History and Information about Fire Department

The Cut-N-Shoot Volunteer Fire Department is situated in the eastern part of Montgomery County Texas.  It is approximately 45 miles north of the city of Houston.  Montgomery County is growing at a rate of about 50 people daily.. There are no zoning ordinances in the county, therefore chemical, LNG tanks, liquid fuel mixing plants and other potentially explosive hazards are in close proximity of the population.  The fire department maintains automatic aid agreements with the other 14 fire departments in the county.  Montgomery County also has one of the highest rates of automobile accidents and fatalities in the State of Texas.

The fire department is located on Highway 105 East and covers a 55 square mile area including the Town of Cut & Shoot.  The current population is between 18,000 and 20,000 people

The Cut-N-Shoot Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. was established in 1967 by a group of community residents concerned about fire protection to this area. At that time the department was ran on donations only.  In 1981 Rural Fire Protection Districts were established within the county. In 1997 the RFPD changed to Emergency Services Districts.  Cut-N-Shoot Volunteer Fire Department operates under ESD #12. The ESD #12 Board is responsible for dealing with the taxing entities and receives the property and sales taxes collected by the taxing authorities.
